Dave Lewis was awarded a BSc in Pharmacology (University of Leeds) and a PhD from the University of Birmingham. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Pharmacology and Bioethics at the University of Leeds, pharmacology education focused, with specific interests in research animal sciences, undergraduate capstone projects, and the personal and professional and development of students and colleagues. Dave played a lead role in the creation of the Society’s research animal sciences learning outcomes framework. He Chairs IUPHARs IOSP initiative, working with national and regional pharmacological societies in China, India and across Africa to create and deliver professional education and Train the Trainer courses in research animal sciences, welfare and ethics. Dave is an internationally recognised expert in undergraduate Capstone projects, creating sector-leading opportunities for students to gain work experience and key skills specific to their individual career intentions. In recognition of his contribution to Pharmacology education, he has been awarded a National Teaching Fellowship, the BPS Rang Teaching Prize and the Physiological Society’s Otto Hutter Teaching Award.
